Tim Davies, the weatherman for Channel Nine's "Today" show, has announced his departure after seven years in the role. His final weather bulletin is scheduled to air on September 18, 2026.
Davies, 42, stated that the decision was bittersweet but that the time felt right to step back from the constant travel associated with the program. He has undertaken over 900 flights during his tenure.
"People always tell me I've got the best job in TV and they're not wrong," Davies said. "Working alongside the best broadcasters, travelling to new destinations daily and showcasing incredible Aussies is a privilege." He added that delivering uplifting stories had been one of the role's greatest rewards, noting that not all journalists get to deliver good news. "Having achieved all that and so much more, this seems like the right time to step back, enjoy a sleep-in, take a break without a camera crew and prepare for my next adventure."
Since joining "Today" in 2019, Davies became a recognizable face through his live weather segments broadcast from across Australia. These often involved adventurous stunts, including skydiving, bungee jumping, abseiling, high-speed car racing, and encounters with marine life and crocodiles.
Steven Burling, Director of Morning Television, paid tribute to Davies, highlighting his impact on regional communities. "Tim is a much loved member of the Today hosting family and he leaves enormous shoes to fill," Burling said. "During his time, he's given a platform to small towns and communities, showcasing their people and causes to a national audience, and that will leave a lasting impact."
Burling confirmed the network fully supports Davies' decision. "We are fully supportive of Tim laying down some roots after seven years of living out of a suitcase," he stated. "I'd like to thank Tim for all he's contributed to the show. I know the team and the audience will greatly miss him."
Channel Nine indicated that an announcement regarding Davies' replacement will be made in the coming weeks.
