A TikToker is under police investigation for allegedly using smart glasses to secretly film encounters. One of the most disturbing incidents detailed in the investigation occurred on the Isle of Skye, where the individual, identified as Margerison, filmed a conversation with a Sikh shopkeeper of Indian heritage. During the exchange, Margerison spoke of "forced" diversity in Europe and referenced the Kalergi Plan, a far-right conspiracy theory suggesting a plot to eliminate the white race.
The shopkeeper, who was born in London and has lived on Skye for two decades, stated that Margerison initiated their conversation by asking "what are you doing here?" but this part was edited out of the published video. She described the encounter as "100% intimidating," noting that Margerison is significantly taller and more heavily built than her. She recounted feeling distressed and crying after learning a secretly filmed video of their interaction had been posted on TikTok.
"You're made to feel very small when you see a video like this," she told BBC Scotland News. "And it's sad because everyone in the local community is really nice. This was really upsetting."
During his time in the Hebrides, Margerison also reportedly filmed an altercation with an elderly couple in a supermarket. The couple had complained that he had "loudly and rudely" asked them to move out of his way. Video footage showed Margerison following the couple, blocking their path at one point, swearing in front of them, and accusing them of being "mental." He also stated his intention to post footage of them on TikTok, claiming it was "well within my rights."
The investigation centers on the use of smart glasses, similar to Meta's Ray-Ban Stories, which are equipped with cameras capable of recording video and taking photos. The use of such devices for secret filming has raised privacy concerns and led to the police inquiry.
