TikTok personality Sydney Towle, who gained a following by sharing her journey with cancer, has died at the age of 26.
Towle documented her experiences with the disease, including its progression and her treatment. In May, she posted videos from the hospital detailing that her cancer had spread to her peritoneum. At that time, she shared that her oncologist had recommended end-of-life care, but Towle stated her intention to continue fighting and seek further treatment from a different specialist.
Despite her illness, Towle maintained a positive outlook on social media, often posting videos of herself dancing and enjoying time with friends. She recently fulfilled a modeling aspiration by walking in a swimsuit show at Miami Swim Week.
Towle was open about her medical devices, including a hepatic artery pump implanted in her abdomen, and often shared photos of herself in swimwear, emphasizing her resilience and finding beauty in her changing body. "Scars that remind me of how far I've come," she wrote previously, adding, "And I'm reminded that dreams only end when you allow them to."
In a March post, she reflected on community support, writing, "Rich in life because my friends choose to spend a Saturday fundraising for cancer research." She also encouraged others to appreciate life's simple pleasures, once advising, "Go get a pint of Ben and Jerry's, watch your favourite movie, remember that life is good and bad things happen sometimes but that doesn't make it a bad life."
Towle's online presence focused on sharing her hopes, struggles, and the realities of living with cancer as a young adult.
