A dramatic falling-out between two western Sydney wedding industry professionals, cake maker Adam Sabbouh, known as Cakes by Adam, and celebrity makeup artist Sherree Morris, has played out publicly on TikTok after originating from a disagreement over a $2,679 dinner bill. The rift has escalated to personal insults, including allegations of surgery shaming, and has led to discussions of legal recourse.
The dispute began following a 36th birthday dinner for Morris at the Japanese restaurant Sokyo on June 21. Sabbouh claims he attended the dinner with 12 other guests, understanding that each would pay $185 for a set menu, with drinks charged separately. He stated that after paying his portion and covering his own drinks, plus gifting Morris a custom cake valued at approximately $1,000, he was presented with an unexpected shortfall of about $500.
Morris disputes Sabbouh's account, providing a receipt showing the total bill was $2,679.23. She asserts that the group's understanding was for each individual to transfer their portion of $185 directly, with additional drinks paid separately. According to Morris, Adam Sabbouh did not contribute to the additional expenses. She claims to have been left approximately $800 out of pocket after covering costs from the dinner.
Sabbouh stated the disagreement intensified when Morris allegedly became upset about the outstanding balance and aired her grievances publicly. In retaliation, he posted a photo of the birthday cake with the caption, "At least I'm not botched." He later expressed regret for the remark, calling it immature. Sabbouh denies that this comment referred to Morris's overseas breast reduction surgery, stating it was a reference to her second Brazilian butt lift. He also mentioned Morris's prior near-fatal experience with an infection following breast reduction surgery in Turkey.
Morris vehemently rejected Sabbouh's explanation, asserting that she understood his comment to be a direct reference to her documented medical trauma from the surgery in Turkey, which she says resulted in severe complications including infection, sepsis, septic shock, and a hematoma. She described the experience of having her medical trauma turned into a joke for social media as devastating.
Sabbouh claims Morris responded by publicly exposing his history of cosmetic surgery during TikTok livestreams, including sharing a shirtless photograph of him before he underwent gynaecomastia surgery, also known as male breast reduction. He reported the incident to the police, who advised him to consult a lawyer. Subsequently, Sabbouh participated in a livestream to expose Morris's surgery to a similar audience size.
Morris disputes initiating the online conflict and stated she only exposed Sabbouh's surgery in retaliation for his public mockery of her medical trauma. She also strongly denies Sabbouh's allegations that she is anti-Muslim, calling them false and damaging, and states that accusations of her "hating Muslims" have led to significant online abuse. She also claims Sabbouh shared her phone number, leading to harassment, and is pursuing legal action.
Sabbouh admitted to making hurtful comments about Morris's relationship with her son, acknowledging these remarks went too far. He believes the dinner dispute escalated significantly after the group continued to a strip club, where Morris allegedly encountered a former romantic partner and became visibly distressed. He maintains he was unfairly targeted for refusing to pay more than his agreed share and that his online attacks were a reaction to public vilification.
Morris maintains that screenshots, recordings, and timestamps support her version of events and dispute the widely misunderstood timeline. She stated she is pursuing the matter as a harassment and civil defamation case regarding the online conduct, emphasizing that the core issue is sustained online harassment and public attacks on her name and business, not a simple dinner bill disagreement.
