Tiger Woods is slated to make his first court appearance in early September, more than five months after his arrest for driving under the influence and a single-vehicle rollover crash in Jupiter Island, Florida.

Woods, 50, was taken into custody on March 27 after his SUV flipped while attempting to overtake a truck at high speed. Police found two opioid painkillers in his pocket and subsequently charged him with DUI, property damage, and refusal to submit to a lawful test.

He sought professional help in Switzerland following the incident and briefly returned to Florida after his girlfriend, Vanessa Trump, disclosed her breast cancer diagnosis. The date for his court appearance had reportedly been postponed multiple times as prosecutors continued their investigation.

Woods has waived his arraignment and requested a jury trial. His legal team, represented by attorney Douglas Duncan, has been involved in recent proceedings, including a hearing on August 4. A July ruling allowed prosecutors to obtain Woods' hospital records connected to the crash.

In May, a similar agreement was approved, granting prosecutors access to Woods' prescription medication records from his Palm Beach pharmacy for the period between January 1 and his March crash. A protective order has been agreed upon by both the prosecution and Woods' defense, which limits the release of hospital and prescription records to specific entities, including the State Attorney's Office, law enforcement, state experts, and the defense.

Prior to the crash, Woods was reportedly nearing a return to professional golf and was anticipated to compete in The Masters. He has not competed since the 2024 Open Championship and has undergone surgery for a torn Achilles tendon and a seventh back procedure.

This incident marks the fourth time Woods has faced legal trouble related to driving. He was arrested for a DUI in 2017 in Florida and was involved in a serious crash in California in 2021 that resulted in significant injuries to his leg. He also had a minor collision in 2009 near his Florida home.
