Tiffany Haddish recently celebrated reaching over three years of sobriety, a milestone that comes just over a week after she received a plea deal that allowed her to avoid jail time for her second driving under the influence charge. The 46-year-old comedian announced her sobriety anniversary on X, formerly Twitter.

'Life is awesome!' Haddish wrote. 'No more waking up in pain. No more waking up next to ugly people. No more toxic relationships. And narcissists REALLY don't like sober Tiffany because I don't feed into the mess anymore. It's actually funny how fast a sober mind will run a toxic soul right up out of your life.'

Haddish stated that giving up alcohol has brought her clarity, allowing her to see her dreams more clearly and believe in her ability to achieve them. She elaborated that she stopped drinking after realizing how alcohol contributes to crimes such as domestic violence, sexual assault, child abuse, theft, and battery, citing her observations while 'sitting in court.' She mused about the potential positive impact of widespread sobriety, questioning how many arguments, bad decisions, and court cases could be avoided if everyone abstained from alcohol for a period.

The comedian's legal troubles began in 2022 when the Peachtree City Police in Georgia found her sleeping behind the wheel of her car, leading to her first DUI charge. In 2023, the Los Angeles Police Department stopped Haddish in Beverly Hills, California, for reportedly being slumped over the wheel of her car and blocking traffic. She was found to have a blood alcohol content of .08% and subsequently took a plea deal for probation on a reckless driving charge.

On August 11, Haddish pleaded guilty to 'DUI driving less safe,' a misdemeanor alcohol-related driving charge. The plea agreement stipulated a sentence of one year of probation, suspension of her driver's privileges in Georgia, random drug and alcohol testing, completion of a DUI course, and 40 hours of community service. During a virtual court hearing for this plea, Haddish declared, 'I'm never coming back! No more Georgia! No more!'

Haddish is scheduled to conclude a three-night engagement at Levity Live in West Nyack, New York, on Sunday. Her new single, "Tell Me Who," featuring rappers Jadakiss and Begetz, is set to release its music video on Friday. She is also slated to appear in upcoming films, including the kidnapping thriller "The Girl In The River," which is scheduled for release in U.S. theaters and video on demand on September 4, and the crime thriller "The Deputy," set for release on September 25.
