Three Teenagers Arrested After Melbourne Shopping Centre Brawl
A violent altercation involving teenagers and security guards occurred near a school holiday event at Highpoint Shopping Centre.
A fight erupted between a group of teenagers and security guards at Highpoint Shopping Centre in Maribyrnong, western Melbourne, on Sunday morning, leading to three arrests. The incident took place shortly before 11 a.m. near a school holiday activity.
Disturbing footage captured the teenagers engaging in punches and kicks with security personnel as families in the vicinity fled the area. Victoria Police responded to the scene and apprehended three males aged 15, 16, and 19. None of the youths were armed.
The two younger teenagers received cautions for affray, while the 19-year-old was released without charge. The shopping centre is part of Victoria Police's Operation Pulse, which increases police and protective service officer presence in busy retail areas, particularly during school holidays, to combat crime.
Superintendent Matt Baynes stated in December 2025 that the operation aims to prevent offending during these busy periods, noting that holidays often see an increase in crime. The increased resources are intended to bolster security and deter criminal activity.
