Three Sirens Named to U.S. Women's World Championship Hockey Roster
O'Brien, Peschel, and Shanahan will represent the United States in Denmark.
Three players from the New York Sirens hockey team have been selected for the United States' 25-player roster for the IIHF Women’s World Championship, scheduled to take place in Denmark from Nov. 6-16.
Forward Casey O’Brien, defender Emma Peschel, and goaltender Callie Shanahan will make their debut for Team USA at the international tournament. They join 20 players who were part of the U.S. Olympic women’s hockey team that won gold at the 2026 Winter Games in Milan.
"Following an exciting week of camp, we’re thrilled to announce the 25 players who will represent Team USA at the 2026 IIHF Women’s World Championship," said Katie Million, U.S. Women’s National Team General Manager, in a statement. "With so much talent in our player pool, these decisions are never easy. We’re confident in the group we’ve selected and are excited to head to Denmark in pursuit of another gold medal for the U.S."
O’Brien, a native of Massachusetts and a graduate of the University of Wisconsin, recorded seven goals and 15 assists in 28 games last season. Peschel, a Minnesota native and a recent Ohio State graduate, was the Sirens’ seventh overall pick in the recent draft. Shanahan, who hails from Michigan and is an alumna of Boston University, serves as a backup goaltender for the Sirens.
"The team we’ve selected is incredibly talented and brings a level of skill that will be just as much fun to watch as it will be to coach," stated John Wroblewski, head coach of the U.S. Women’s National Team. "We’re looking forward to getting to Denmark and competing for our ultimate goal, a gold medal."
