Three unidentified men were observed ascending from a manhole on Park Avenue near East 61st Street in Manhattan early Tuesday morning. The location is a short distance from the Loews Regency New York hotel, where Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is expected to stay during the United Nations General Assembly.
Authorities reported the incident occurred around 4:35 a.m. After emerging from the underground pit, the individuals fled the scene in two separate vehicles, heading north on Park Avenue.
It remains unclear if the emergence from the manhole is connected to Netanyahu's upcoming stay in the city. The New York Post reported on the incident, citing police and sources.
