Three Emerge from Brooklyn Manhole in Latest Sewer Incident
The appearance adds to a string of unusual sewer-diving incidents across New York City.
Three individuals were observed climbing out of a manhole in Brooklyn early Friday, marking the latest in a series of unusual sewer-diving incidents reported across New York City.
The group, described as wearing bright clothing, emerged from a manhole at the intersection of Bay Ridge Parkway and 17th Avenue in Bensonhurst at approximately 4:30 a.m. A bystander alerted the authorities by calling 911.
By the time law enforcement arrived at the scene, the individuals had already departed. Police reported no arrests were made in connection with the incident, and the investigation is ongoing.
It remains unclear if these individuals are connected to previous sewer entries. Earlier this week, two men were arrested near a luxury hotel on the Upper East Side in connection with a similar incident. Kevin Rodriguez, 26, and Samuel Reveron, 25, both Venezuelan citizens residing in Queens, were identified by authorities.
During questioning, Reveron reportedly told investigators that they entered the sewers in search of valuables. "We go into the sewers to look for valuables that go into the sewer drains," he stated, specifically mentioning a search for "gold."
This year has seen multiple reports of individuals emerging from manholes in various parts of the city, including Middle Village in Queens, Williamsburg and Gravesend in Brooklyn, and near Penn Station and Madison Square Garden in Manhattan.
