Three individuals, including a child, were found dead Wednesday morning at a daycare in Hopkins, Minnesota, in what authorities are investigating as an apparent murder-suicide. The incident occurred at Brown Bear Childcare, located in the 200 block of Tyler Avenue North, approximately 10 miles west of Minneapolis.
According to Hopkins police chief Brent Johnson, the domestic situation began around 9 a.m. The victims are believed to be the owners of the daycare and appeared to be related, with the perpetrator believed to be the man. Police are working to determine the weapon used in the attack.
At the time of the incident, seven children were present at the daycare. All children, with the exception of the one fatality, were safely evacuated without injury and have since been reunited with their parents. "There’s no worse scenario than this where you drop off your child somewhere you think is safe and you get that phone call," Johnson stated during a press conference.
A significant police presence was observed in the neighborhood following the incident.
