Three Dead, Four Injured in Detroit Strip Club Shooting
An argument escalated to gunfire at an after-hours establishment early Sunday, killing three men and injuring four others.
Three people were killed and four others were injured when an argument devolved into gunfire at an after-hours strip club in Detroit on Sunday morning, according to officials.
Detroit Police responded to the shooting at approximately 7:21 a.m. on a street primarily lined with residences. Officers found three men who had sustained fatal gunshot wounds, Detroit Police Chief Todd Bettison stated at a news conference.
Four additional individuals, comprising two men and two women, were transported to local hospitals in private vehicles. Bettison indicated that all victims are believed to be between their 20s and 30s.
"A fight occurred, an altercation occurred, and as a result individuals decided to settle it with gun violence," Bettison said.
Bettison also noted that the location has a history with the Detroit Police Department, having been the subject of seven calls for service this year. He mentioned that investigators have leads but declined to provide further details.
"This was an after-hours location," he said, describing the scene. "Imagine a strip club. … I'll leave it at that."
Mayor Mary Sheffield of Detroit implored anyone with information to contact the authorities. "We know that we need more people to speak up to bring justice to the situation," she said at the news conference. "It’s heartbreaking and our community should not suffer from this type of violence."
