A local judge in Ensenada, Mexico, has found three Mexicans guilty of the murders of two Australian brothers and their American friend during a surfing trip in April 2024.

Jesús Gerardo García, known as “El Kekas,” along with Irineo Francisco “N” and Ángel Jesús “N,” were convicted Friday of murder, armed robbery, and armed carjacking. The three had been in custody for over two years awaiting the trial's conclusion.

The victims, Australian brothers Callum and Jake Robinson and their American companion Jack Carter Rhoad, had traveled to Baja California for a surfing excursion. They were reported missing shortly after arriving in Punta San Jose, a coastal area approximately 50 miles from Ensenada. Their bodies were discovered on May 3 in a well.

Authorities arrested García in May 2024 in connection with the case. His ex-partner, Ary Gisell Silva Raya, was also arrested, along with Irineo Francisco “N” and Ángel Jesús “N.”

During the month-long trial, prosecutors presented details of the crime. Silva Raya testified that García confessed to approaching the foreigners' tent with a handgun. She also stated that she had traveled to Punta San Jose on April 27, 2024, where she instigated one of her companions to rob the group, which occurred the following day.

Silva Raya was previously sentenced in November 2025 to 20 years in prison after pleading guilty to aggravated robbery and vehicle theft charges. García and his co-defendants opted to proceed to trial.

The judge is scheduled to deliver the final sentence on October 16. The Baja California State Attorney General’s Office has requested a maximum sentence of 210 years for each of the convicted individuals.
