A woman and two men have been arrested in connection with the fatal shooting of a 22-year-old man in Thomastown, Melbourne, on Sunday night. The trio, aged 19 and 20, were taken into custody in Deer Park on Wednesday evening following inquiries by homicide detectives.
Daniel Hussein was fatally shot at HR Uren Reserve in Thomastown around 7:30 p.m. Sunday. He was reportedly at the reserve's carpark assisting a friend involved in a dispute when he was targeted, according to reports. His car was still running when he was shot.
Mr. Hussein, who had recently completed his plumbing apprenticeship and purchased a home, was reportedly weeks away from getting married. His brother, Ali Hussein, told reporters that Daniel was trying to help a friend when he was killed. Ali Hussein also suggested that a dispute in Melbourne's CBD the previous night may have triggered the fatal incident.
Authorities have stated that the investigation is ongoing, and no charges have been laid as of Wednesday evening. Police are urging anyone with information or relevant footage to contact Crime Stoppers.
