Three masked individuals armed with a pistol robbed Obvio Cocktail Bar in Manhattan on July 13, making off with approximately $30,000 worth of liquor, cash, and DJ equipment. The New York Police Department reported that the incident occurred around 4:00 a.m. at the establishment located on East 28th Street.
According to authorities, the robbers entered the bar and forced two male employees, aged 38 and 43, into separate bathrooms. The employees were restrained with electrical cords and tape. The assailants then took a safe containing $7,000, DJ equipment valued at $13,000, and bottles of liquor worth an estimated $7,000.
Both employees sustained minor injuries, described as redness on their wrists, but declined medical attention at the scene. The bar, known for its craft cocktails and live DJ sets, requires an elegant dress code and offers an upscale dining experience. It was recognized by The New York Times in 2025 for its martini.
Investigators released images of one suspect seen washing a gray 1993 Ford E-350 Econoline van, which is believed to have been used in the robbery. The van has since been recovered. The investigation into the robbery is ongoing.
