A tractor-trailer carrying thousands of cans of beer overturned early Monday on Route 44 in Connecticut, spilling its contents across the roadway and necessitating hours of cleanup and traffic disruption. The truck, laden with Michelob Ultra and Bud Light, veered off the road and flipped, scattering cans over a significant stretch of the highway.
Connecticut State Police responded to the scene shortly before 5:40 a.m. The incident led to an extensive road closure as cleanup crews worked to remove the debris and upright the damaged truck. Police reported that the cleanup effort was significantly delayed because the Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection was not immediately notified about the crash, according to NBC Connecticut.
The crash remains under investigation.
