Thousands of Baby Bath Seats Recalled Over Drowning Hazard
The Consumer Product Safety Commission issued a recall for over 2,100 ONTHEWEI-branded baby bath seats sold on Amazon due to instability.
More than 2,000 ONTHEWEI-branded baby bath seats are subject to a recall due to a hazard that federal regulators state could lead to serious injury or death by drowning. The Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) announced the recall, affecting approximately 2,140 units.
According to the CPSC notice, the recalled bath seats violate mandatory safety standards for infant bath seats because they are unstable and can tip over. This instability poses a significant risk to children.
The affected products were sold on Amazon during April for prices ranging from $40 to $50. The bath seats are available in gray, pink, blue, and mist green. Key identifying features include detachable restraint arms and suction cups on the underside.
Consumers can find the model number "Model No: MY002" and the date of manufacture "2026/1/10" printed on a label located on the back of the item.
Consumers are strongly advised to cease using the recalled bath seats immediately. To receive a full refund, customers must follow specific instructions provided by ONTHEWEI. These instructions involve destroying the bath seat by marking it with permanent marker, disassembling it, cutting the suction cups, and submitting a photograph of the destroyed product to the company. ONTHEWEI and Amazon have not yet responded to requests for comment.
