Thierry Henry Crowned Premier League's Ultimate Match-Winner

Arsenal legend Thierry Henry has been named the Premier League's ultimate match-winner, according to new statistics that analyze goals and assists per minute. The data, compiled by Daily Mail sport in collaboration with Opta, identifies the top 10 players who most frequently decided games.

Henry, often considered one of the greatest players in Premier League history, leads the chart with a goal or assist every 94 minutes, excluding penalties. He is the only player to have achieved both 20 goals and 20 assists in a single Premier League season, showcasing his dual threat as both a scorer and creator. His ability to decide crucial matches was evident in iconic moments, such as his solo goal against Tottenham in 2002 and a spectacular volley against Manchester United in 2000. Henry's contributions were instrumental in Arsenal winning two Premier League titles and three FA Cups during his tenure.

Manchester City's Erling Haaland narrowly missed the top spot, ranking second. Since his arrival in 2022, Haaland has been a dominant force, setting a record for the most goals in a Premier League season (36) in his debut campaign. He is also the player to reach the Premier League's 100 club in the fewest games (111). Haaland's blend of power and speed has been pivotal in Manchester City's success, including their treble-winning season in his first year.

Ruud van Nistelrooy secured third place, despite having fewer total winning goals and assists than some others on the list. During his five years at Manchester United, the Dutch striker was remarkably prolific, scoring or assisting in over 70 percent of his Premier League appearances. He was known for his efficiency, often requiring minimal touches to find the net or set up a teammate, and frequently stepped up in decisive moments.

Didier Drogba, known as an ultimate big-game player, is ranked fourth. The Ivorian striker was a constant threat for Chelsea, capable of scoring in various ways and often delivering crucial goals. His statistics include a significant number of game-winning assists, often stemming from his potent partnership with Frank Lampard.

Mohamed Salah of Liverpool is at fifth place, notable for having the most Premier League goals among players on this list. Since rejoining the league, Salah has been a consistent and impactful performer, setting goal-scoring records and delivering winners in critical matches, including a historic victory against Manchester City in his first season.

Arsenal's Dennis Bergkamp is sixth, celebrated for his technical brilliance and ability to turn games. While primarily a provider with a high assist count, 34 of which were for winning goals, Bergkamp also scored memorable and vital goals, including his renowned solo effort against Newcastle in 2002.

Olivier Giroud is seventh, an inclusion noted for his consistent goal-scoring despite never winning the Premier League trophy. The French striker was particularly effective in crucial matches for both Arsenal and Chelsea, scoring winners that helped secure European qualification.

Manchester City's Kevin De Bruyne ranks eighth. The Belgian midfielder has been a key figure in City's title challenges, renowned for his game-changing goals and assists in nail-biting finishes to seasons, including crucial contributions in title deciders against Chelsea and Arsenal.

Robin van Persie, who enjoyed successful spells at both Arsenal and Manchester United, is ninth. He earned back-to-back Golden Boots and scored numerous game-winning goals, including a hat-trick against Aston Villa that secured Manchester United's 2012-13 Premier League title.

Sergio Agüero rounds out the top ten. The Manchester City striker is remembered for one of the most iconic winning moments in Premier League history: his last-minute goal against QPR in 2012 that secured the title. While having fewer game-winning assists, his 48 game-winning goals were a significant factor in his ranking.
