'The View' Co-Hosts Challenge Joy Behar on Trump Health Coverage Claims
Panelists argue that former President Trump's health is frequently discussed and that his speech patterns differ from President Biden's.
Co-hosts on "The View" pushed back on Joy Behar's assertion that the media scrutinizes former President Donald Trump's health less than they did President Joe Biden's.
Behar stated that "The media does not cover Trump the way they covered Joe Biden," a comment made during a discussion about Sen. Mitch McConnell's return to Congress following a period of absence. However, co-host Sara Haines countered that Behar herself discusses Trump's health daily on the program. "Here alone Joy, you talk about him every day!" Haines remarked.
Haines suggested a contrast in how the media covers the two figures, noting that Trump "has always sounded like this," referring to his speaking style. She added that Biden "once sounded normal" and that there is a discernible difference. Ana Navarro interjected, disagreeing with Behar's premise by citing instances of Biden appearing to fall asleep and describing his physical appearance. Alyssa Farah Griffin offered a different perspective, stating, "I think the media does cover that Trump is declining."
In a statement to Fox News Digital, White House spokesman Davis Ingle criticized Behar, calling her a "talentless hack" suffering from "Trump Derangement Syndrome."
The discussion touched upon Biden's health following his debate performance against Trump, which preceded his exit from the 2024 presidential contest. During a 2025 interview on "The View," Biden denied reports of cognitive decline, stating, "They are wrong, there’s nothing to sustain that." He also referenced the state of the country when he took office, citing the COVID-19 pandemic and the January 6th Capitol riot.
Former first lady Jill Biden defended her husband's work ethic, telling "The View" in the same interview that those who wrote critically about his health "were not in the White House with us." She asserted that Joe Biden worked tirelessly, reviewing briefings and meeting with staff. "Give me Joe Biden any time," she added, referencing the conditions left by the previous administration, which drew applause from the audience.
