The Victorian Nightclub in Santa Monica to Rebrand as Private Family Club
The historic property will be transformed into The Santa Monican, offering a range of amenities for members.

Santa Monica's well-known nightlife venue, The Victorian, is set to be rebranded as The Santa Monican, a private members club focused on family-oriented programming. The city-owned property located at 2640 Main St. will undergo a transformation to include recreation, food, wellness, and children's activities.
The new club plans to feature a new pool, spa, fitness center, a coffee bistro, and a restaurant. Up to 20% of memberships will be reserved for Santa Monica residents.
Renovations are anticipated to commence by the end of the year, with an opening targeted for mid-2028. The transition began when The Victorian's operators, Garner Gerson and Adir Tal, proposed the shift away from a late-night model to a family-friendly business. The city of Santa Monica approved the lease transfer to "The Santamonican Club, LLC" in March with a unanimous 7-0 vote by the city council.
City Manager Oliver Chi expressed support for the change, stating that the operators recognized the shift in their business model and the community's need for family services on Main Street. "Our job in that moment was not to get in the way, but to help them get there," Chi said in a press release. "In a realigned Santa Monica, that is what working with our business community looks like – listening when an operator tells us the market has changed and moving quickly so that a historic property stays active, cared for and open to the community."
The Victorian announced its closure after 20 years of operation on October 6, with its final event scheduled to be its annual Halloween bash on October 31. The Victorian building itself is a historic structure, originally built in 1892 and relocated to its current site in Heritage Square in 1973.
