To commemorate its 30th anniversary, "The Daily Show" has released a compilation of audition tapes featuring a host of its past and present comedic talent. The video mashup showcases the early performances of comedians who went on to become correspondents and hosts.

Among those featured are Jordan Klepper, John Oliver, Desi Lydic, Michael Kosta, Jessica Williams, Samantha Bee, Ed Helms, and Michael Che. Che, who was a correspondent for a brief period in 2014 before joining "Saturday Night Live," is included in the release.

One notable audition featured current co-host Ronny Chieng. In a brief clip, then-host Trevor Noah introduces Chieng to discuss "the impact and use of social media in politics." Chieng's response, "People on Facebook are so fucking stupid!" elicited laughter from the crew.

Another standout moment comes from current co-host Josh Johnson, who directly addressed then-returning host Jon Stewart during his audition. The segment discusses the 2024 presidential candidates, Donald Trump and Joe Biden. Johnson, in character, questioned the decision to bring back the same candidates, calling it "lazy" and "desperate." Stewart, who had recently returned to host the show, appeared to take Johnson's critique personally, pausing before asking if Johnson was referring to the presidency. Johnson confirmed his statement, eliciting a humorous exchange.

The audition tapes offer a glimpse into the development of the show's signature satirical style and the comedic voices that have defined it over three decades.
