The Block Announces Ambitious 2027 Renovation Project at Historic Australian Site
Five new teams will tackle three heritage buildings dating back to the Victorian gold rush era.
The long-running renovation reality show "The Block" is set to undertake its most significant challenge to date in 2027. The upcoming season will feature five new teams tasked with transforming a collection of historic buildings at Jacksons Hill in Sunbury, Victoria.
Channel Nine, the network behind the show, has acquired the three heritage buildings from the Victorian Government. These structures, with origins dating back to the gold rush era, were initially constructed as an industrial school. The site later served as a psychiatric hospital before transitioning into a university campus. The upcoming renovations aim to preserve the historical character of the buildings while applying the show's signature high-end design elements.
The Jacksons Hill site is located approximately 40 minutes northwest of Melbourne's central business district. Sunbury is characterized by its rolling hills, vineyards, and historical significance, offering a blend of rural atmosphere within proximity to the city.
Returning to lead the contestants through this large-scale project will be hosts Scott Cam and Shelley Craft. In addition to the main competition, "The Block: The House Next Door," a special series set to premiere in 2027 on Stan, will feature returning fan-favorite contestants undertaking a sixth renovation on an adjacent property.
The 23rd season of "The Block" promises a departure from the show's typical focus on newly constructed homes, instead centering on the intricate restoration and redesign of these established heritage structures.
