“Storage Wars” star Darrell Sheets was “struggling with numerous things” in the period leading up to his death by suicide in April, according to a report from the Lake Havasu City Police Department. The report, obtained by Page Six, concludes that Sheets died by suicide and that there is no evidence to suggest otherwise.
Detectives found a handwritten suicide note inside a black bin in a closet at Sheets' Arizona home. The note, which appeared to have shaky handwriting, read, “I could not take anymore the Facebook bulling [sic], f*** you [redacted].”
Sheets' girlfriend told detectives that he had been unable to sleep and was stressed in the days before his death, though he had not mentioned self-harm. She recounted that on the morning of his death, Sheets got out of bed. When she found him standing in his office doorway, he told her to return to bed. Moments later, she heard a single gunshot.
The report also noted that Sheets had recently argued with his son, Brandon Sheets, over what was described as "family drama." Following this visit, Sheets was reportedly "devastated" and "sad as hell."
Additionally, the report included an alleged text message from Sheets' daughter-in-law stating that his girlfriend "was stealing money" from him. The girlfriend indicated that Sheets appeared "sad and upset because of the text messages."
Sheets, who began starring on the A&E series “Storage Wars” in 2010, was found dead on April 22 at age 67. The Mohave County Medical Examiner’s Office later confirmed the cause of death as a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
His "Storage Wars" co-star Rene Nezhoda suggested on social media that online bullying may have contributed to Sheets' death, stating that he had been posting about a person who was cyberbullying and tormenting him. A spokesperson for Sheets was not immediately available for comment.
