Annelise Camp, a two-year-old Texas girl who was on life support after a drowning incident left her brain dead, has died. Her family confirmed her death on Monday in an update to a GoFundMe fundraiser.

"Annelise is now with Jesus. While our hearts are broken, we trust in his perfect love, his faithfulness, and his promises," her parents, Johnston and Joy Camp, wrote in the update. "We know she is fully healed and experiencing the joy of being in his presence."

Her grandfather, Steve Camp, shared that Annelise was extubated the same day she died. "When this procedure was done, she passed very quickly," he wrote on Facebook.

Annelise's case gained national attention after her parents sued Texas Children's Hospital. The lawsuit reportedly stemmed from the hospital's desire to perform brain testing on the child. Court documents indicated that the family wanted their daughter to continue receiving medical care, but that treatment would have been limited if she was declared brain dead.

The incident occurred on Memorial Day, May 25, when Annelise was celebrating with her family in Houston. According to her loved ones, she wandered into the backyard pool after her life jacket was removed. Her cousin pulled her from the water, and first responders transported her to the hospital.
