A Texas teenager was fatally shot by sheriff's deputies early Wednesday morning after he reportedly fired a handgun while wandering the streets in his underwear.

Austin Hodo, 18, was killed in the early hours of Wednesday near his family's $1.3 million home in a gated community in Boerne, Texas. Deputies with the Kendall County Sheriff's Office responded to the community after receiving reports that Hodo had fired a shot at a neighbor.

Dashcam footage released by the sheriff's office shows deputies encountering Hodo in the middle of the street. Officers can be heard repeatedly commanding him to drop the handgun he was carrying. According to a statement from the department, Hodo refused to comply and instead raised the weapon and fired at the group of four deputies.

In response to Hodo firing at them, the deputies discharged their firearms, striking Hodo. Deputies immediately approached Hodo to render aid, and he was pronounced deceased at the scene. No deputies were injured during the incident.

The audio from the dispatch includes a caller reporting a male in his underwear standing in the middle of the roadway and shooting. The dispatcher informed deputies that Hodo had allegedly attempted to shoot the person who called 911.

One deputy can be heard on the audio stating, "I want you to roll up with me. I'm going to use your car for cover." Another deputy advised that Hodo was carrying a gun in his hand, partially concealed by a shirt.

The video footage shows Hodo turning and walking toward the deputies before raising his hand and firing his weapon. The video ends shortly after this, and the audio logs show officers attempting to revive Hodo while calling for an ambulance.

Hodo, who had recently graduated from the private Geneva School of Boerne and was planning to attend Texas Tech University in the fall, died at the scene. The investigation into the shooting is active and ongoing, and no motive has been released.

The Kendall County Sheriff's Office has asked for prayers for all affected by the incident.
