A Houston high school teacher recently became emotional after observing 17- and 18-year-old students struggle with a fundamental reading and writing exercise. The educator, Darius Williams, noted that the students had difficulty completing the task even after he provided guidance and much of the required information.

Williams stated that while his students could articulate ideas and express themselves verbally, they encountered challenges in translating those thoughts into written form. The incident, which was shared and gained attention, highlights concerns about literacy levels among high school seniors.
