Two sisters and a friend are facing murder charges in the brutal daylight stabbing of a Texas mother of five. Kitty Mia Diaz, 21, her 19-year-old sister Amaya Cookie Diaz, and Kyandra Renee Faz, 21, are accused of killing Caroline Pena, 32, on June 26 in Del Rio, Texas.

According to a police report, the attack began when Amaya Diaz allegedly stabbed Pena multiple times in the back. Kitty Mia Diaz and Faz then allegedly joined the assault. The incident was captured on home security footage. All three women have been held on $5 million bond each and have not yet entered pleas to the murder charges.

Kitty Mia Diaz had recently posted TikTok videos expressing love for her four-year-old son. In these clips, she discussed how her son had "saved her life" and provided her with purpose and unconditional love. These posts stand in stark contrast to the murder of Pena, who leaves behind five children aged three to 16.

Security footage showed Amaya Diaz approaching Pena with an object believed to be a knife before an altercation ensued. Kitty Mia Diaz and Faz then allegedly joined in the attack. Pena died after receiving emergency treatment at a San Antonio hospital.

Following their arrests, video footage showed Amaya Diaz smirking and giggling as she was led to a police SUV, while Kitty Mia Diaz was seen grinning. Police noted that both sisters had showered and changed their clothes shortly before their apprehension.

Records indicate that Kyandra Renee Faz has a prior criminal history. In 2023, she was sentenced to two 24-month terms for conspiracy to transport and illegal transportation of aliens after being arrested by Border Patrol agents in Uvalde, Texas, for transporting undocumented individuals across the border.

Del Rio Police Chief Frank Ramirez stated that the three accused individuals knew the victim but declined to speculate on a motive for the attack. He described the demeanor of the Diaz sisters during their arrest as "callous."
