Texas Set to Execute Second Man Convicted in 2005 Triple Homicide

Texas is scheduled to execute Ker’Sean Ramey on Wednesday, a week after his accomplice in a 2005 triple homicide was put to death. Ramey, 41, is slated to die by lethal injection at the state penitentiary in Huntsville. He would be the sixth person executed in Texas this year.

A jury convicted Ramey of capital murder for the shootings of Samuel Roberts, 24; Tiffani Peacock, 18; and Celso Lopez, 38, in their shared home in Edna, Texas. Ramey and LeJames Norman reportedly believed cocaine was in the house and intended to steal it, but found none and killed the victims. Norman was executed on September 16.

Attorneys for Ramey submitted a final appeal to the U.S. Supreme Court, arguing there was no physical evidence directly linking him to the killings and that jurors did not consider his history of childhood abuse and poverty. Prosecutors maintain that Ramey has not presented any grounds that warrant reconsidering the conviction.

During Ramey’s trial, his defense attorneys blamed Norman for the shootings. Norman, who pleaded guilty to capital murder and was also sentenced to death, testified that both he and Ramey shot the victims. Norman’s testimony indicated Lopez was shot multiple times, Peacock was shot twice in the head, and Roberts sustained several gunshot wounds to the chest, neck, and head.
