Severe flooding has inundated parts of Texas following days of intense rainfall, leading to evacuations and water rescues across the affected region. The storms have particularly impacted several counties situated near the Mexico border.
The Guadalupe River experienced a rapid rise, increasing by more than 25 feet in a single hour. In response to the escalating floodwaters, residents have been advised to shelter in place. The widespread disruption has resulted in thousands of people losing electrical power. As of the latest reports, there have been no immediate accounts of fatalities or injuries.
This event occurs in the same region where significant flooding last year resulted in over 100 fatalities. That previous incident included the deaths of 25 children and two counselors at Camp Mystic, a girls' camp located near Kerrville, Texas, during the July Fourth holiday period.
