A police officer in Southlake, Texas, rescued a driver from a vehicle just moments before it erupted in flames on Highway 114. The incident occurred on June 7 when the driver's Nissan Altima suddenly caught fire while in motion.
Officer Swisher was reportedly in the midst of an unrelated traffic stop on the highway when superiors alerted him to the heavily smoking car. Dashcam and bodycam footage documented Swisher driving to the scene and running toward the burning vehicle. The car began to ignite almost immediately after his arrival.
The driver of the Nissan sustained no injuries during the incident. Officer Swisher reportedly suffered minor burns to arm hair during the rescue. A New York Post report on the event included video footage of the rescue.
