A Texas mother of five was fatally stabbed in a broad daylight attack in Del Rio, Texas, on June 25. Three women, Kitty Mia Diaz, 21, her sister Amaya Diaz, 19, and their friend Kyandra Renee Faz, 21, have been charged with murder in the death of Caroline "Caro" Pena, 32.

According to court documents, Pena went to Faz's residence on the 800 block of E. 10th Street. Surveillance footage reviewed by police shows Pena arriving in a black Dodge pickup truck. Shortly after, a black Chrysler 300 arrived, and Amaya and Kitty Diaz exited the vehicle to confront Pena. The footage shows Amaya Diaz in possession of an object believed to be a knife and engaging in an altercation with Pena, striking her in the back. Pena later died at a local hospital. Kitty Diaz and Faz also allegedly assaulted Pena.

Days before the attack, Pena shared a cryptic prayer on her Facebook profile on June 11, which read in Spanish: "May God protect me from what my eyes don't see and what my ears don't hear." Her Facebook activity also included posts that appeared to be indirect criticisms of others and a comment suggesting she was "too high" for something she was viewing.

Amaya and Kitty Diaz were arrested and filmed smiling as they were taken into custody. All three accused women face murder charges and are being held on a $5 million bond each.

Kyandra Renee Faz, 21, a friend of the Diaz sister, was also arrested in connection with the fatal stabbing

Police have not yet released a motive for the attack. However, a relative of Pena's told the Daily Mail that the women knew each other. The relative also noted the close-knit nature of Del Rio, stating that their families had known each other for 20 years.

Friends have shared tributes to Pena, remembering her as a "woman, mother and friend."
