Texas Mother Had Heated Argument Before Allegedly Attacking Husband and Children
A witness reported seeing a loud dispute between the mother and father the day before the alleged stabbing incident.
A Texas mother accused of stabbing her husband and two young children reportedly had a heated argument with her husband the day before the alleged attack. Holly Leeann Flores, 37, faces attempted murder charges after the incident early Tuesday morning in Northlake, Texas.
Investigators have not yet disclosed the motive behind the alleged stabbing spree, during which Flores is accused of stabbing her husband, Justin Hommel, 34, in the head, and their two children, a 3-year-old girl and a 10-month-old baby, in the chest. All three victims are expected to survive.
A witness working construction next door told the Daily Mail that they saw Flores and Hommel arguing hours before the alleged attack. "Yesterday I saw them arguing. I was out here working, I don’t know what the fight was about but I could see her pointing and waving her arms. She looked upset," the witness stated.
The witness added that Hommel was "standing there listening and holding the baby" while Flores yelled. The witness initially dismissed the argument, noting that "all couples fight."
Hommel called 911 around 4:20 a.m. Tuesday, reporting that his wife had stabbed him at their home. During the 911 call, Hommel could be heard trying to reach the children while Flores allegedly continued her attack, according to Northlake Police Chief Robert Crawford.
Upon arrival, officers discovered the 3-year-old girl and 10-month-old boy with stab wounds to their chests and transported them to a local hospital. Flores was taken into custody and has been charged with two counts of attempted capital murder and one charge of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. She received stitches for a minor cut on her chest before being jailed.
Police Chief Crawford also revealed that law enforcement had been called to the family's address approximately five times since March, with most calls related to welfare concerns. "It’s very heartbreaking when we have to respond to a traumatic event such as this," Crawford said.
Flores is being held at the Denton County jail, and no bond had been set as of Wednesday afternoon. The incident occurred in Northlake, a town with a population of about 5,000 located roughly 30 minutes north of Fort Worth.
