A 22-year-old Texas mother has been charged with two counts of manslaughter after allegedly driving 82 mph in a 35 mph zone, resulting in a crash that killed two recent college graduates. Aldrea Rogers was arrested on October 16 and is being held in the Dallas County jail, with her bond set at $250,000 for each manslaughter charge, bringing her total bond to $500,000.

Fatal Collision

The crash occurred on October 6, when Julian Harris, 23, and Madison Duren, 22, were leaving their apartment. Harris, who was driving a Toyota Prius with Duren in the passenger seat, was attempting to turn left onto a major roadway. Investigators allege Rogers, driving a Hyundai Elantra, struck their vehicle at a high rate of speed.

Harris died at the scene, while Duren was transported to a hospital where she later succumbed to her injuries. Rogers and her two young children, who were passengers in her vehicle, survived the collision.

Victims Remembered

Harris and Duren had recently graduated from Southern Methodist University (SMU), where they shared a passion for theater and were active in the local Dallas theater community. Friends described the couple as enthusiastic and eager to learn, with a strong desire to connect with others. A memorial service for Harris and Duren is scheduled for October 31 at SMU.

Investigation Details

According to an arrest affidavit, Rogers was traveling 82 mph in a zone with a posted speed limit of 35 mph. The Dallas Police Department and Dallas County court officials have been contacted for further details regarding the ongoing investigation. Friends of the victims expressed shock that Rogers, who is the same age as the victims, allegedly had her two young children in the car during the incident.
