A Texas woman has been charged with attempted murder after allegedly stabbing her husband and their two young children early Tuesday morning. The incident occurred at the family's home in Northlake, a town approximately 30 minutes north of Fort Worth.

Holly Leeann Flores, 37, faces charges including attempted capital murder and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. Her husband, 34-year-old Justin Hommel, called 911 around 4:20 a.m. to report he had been stabbed in the head. He also told authorities that Flores had been suffering from postpartum depression.

According to an arrest affidavit, Hommel stated he had been concerned by Flores' behavior and had planned to sleep on the couch to be closer to their children. During the 911 call, Hommel could be heard asking his wife if the situation was related to postpartum issues, according to WFAA.

The affidavit further details that Hommel awoke to the sounds of his children crying and that Flores then began attacking him with a kitchen knife. He managed to disarm her and sustained bite marks on his arm during the struggle. When police arrived, Hommel was reportedly standing outside the house holding a knife with blood on his head.

Officers entered the residence and found the couple's two children, a 3-year-old daughter and a 10-month-old son, who were conscious but had sustained multiple stab wounds to the chest. Both children and Hommel were transported to a Fort Worth hospital. Hommel's injuries were described as non-life-threatening, and the children were reported to be in stable condition.

Flores received medical treatment and was released before being taken into custody and transported to the Denton County Jail. Police Chief Robert Crawford indicated that officers had been called to the family's address approximately five times since March, with some calls related to welfare concerns and overdoses. Audio from emergency radio traffic suggested a history of welfare concerns involving Child Protective Services (CPS) with the mother.
