Andrew James Wimsatt, a 62-year-old engineer with connections to Fox News personalities, was killed on September 7 in what authorities are describing as a random attack. Wimsatt was reportedly stabbed to death from behind while sitting on a park bench in Round Rock, Texas, minutes after visiting his mother at a nearby nursing home.

Williamson County deputies arrested Benedict Chinedu Ogbodiegwu, 26, on murder and theft charges in connection with the incident. Surveillance video captured the attack, showing a man identified as Ogbodiegwu approach Wimsatt from behind, stab him repeatedly, wipe blood from his shirt, and then walk away.

Wimsatt, who held a Ph.D. in civil engineering and worked for the Texas A&M Transportation Institute, was remembered by several Fox News hosts, including Greg Gutfeld and Kat Timpf, for his consistent positivity and support. Timpf described Wimsatt as a "fan who became a friend" and noted his generosity and encouragement throughout her career. Tyrus recalled Wimsatt as a kind man who took care of his mother and found joy in his jokes.

Investigators were able to retrace the suspect's steps and allegedly recovered evidence including bloody clothing and the suspected murder weapon. When confronted with the video evidence, Ogbodiegwu reportedly claimed he had a twin brother but could not provide a name. Ogbodiegwu has a criminal history in Williamson County dating back to at least 2017, with prior arrests this year for theft and carrying fake identification. He had been released from the county jail on June 9, shortly before Wimsatt's death, and was previously incarcerated from January to April.

Ogbodiegwu is being held on a $1 million bond. His next court date is scheduled for October 8.
