Texas Man Charged After Allegedly Soliciting Minor, Inviting Her to Trump Rally

A Texas man has been arrested and charged with online solicitation of a minor after allegedly engaging in explicit online conversations with a 15-year-old girl and inviting her and her parents to a Donald Trump rally.

Hunter James Kufta, 32, was taken into custody on Thursday. According to Harris County Constable Alan Rosen, Kufta was messaging the teenager from Austin, and the girl's parents contacted authorities after learning about the nature of the communications and Kufta's refusal to cease contact.

The alleged messages included Kufta expressing a desire to impregnate the minor and inviting her and her family to a Trump rally in San Antonio. The investigation began when the girl's parents alerted the Memorial Villages Police Department, which then involved Constable Precinct 1's Internet Crimes Against Children Unit. A detective, posing as the girl online, continued the investigation and reportedly received further explicit messages from Kufta.

Kufta was apprehended in Austin with assistance from the Austin Police Department. "This predator was incredibly bold. Thank goodness we caught him and stopped him from having more child victims," Rosen stated.

Court records indicate Kufta is being held at the Harris County Jail on a $500,000 bond. His next court appearance is scheduled for Tuesday. If convicted, he faces a potential prison sentence of up to 20 years and a $10,000 fine.

Authorities also revealed that Kufta has a prior conviction for a sex offense involving a minor in Florida, where he was required to register as a sex offender. He relocated from Florida to Texas in April. A report from October 2022 detailed Kufta's arrest in Naples, Florida, for allegedly sending lewd images to a minor and making threats. Investigators stated that Kufta had befriended the minor during her family's vacation in Naples and, after seeing her location on Snapchat, allegedly sent her explicit images and threatened to rape her.

Investigators said Kufta invited the girl and her parents to attend a Trump rally in San Antonio. Pictured: Trump at a midterm campaign rally in San Antonio on October 7
