Texas Longhorns Rise to No. 1 in College Football Rankings
Arch Manning leads historic comeback as the team ascends to the top spot.
The Texas Longhorns have claimed the No. 1 ranking in college football after a dramatic comeback victory against then-No. 1 Ohio State. The team, led by quarterback Arch Manning, achieved the largest fourth-quarter rally against an AP No. 1 team in college football history, securing a 24-23 win.
Trailing by 20 points entering the final quarter, Texas orchestrated a significant turnaround. Manning was instrumental in engineering two touchdown drives and setting up the game-winning one-yard touchdown run by Hollywood Smothers with just 25 seconds remaining.
The undefeated Longhorns, now 2-0, are preparing to host the UTSA Roadrunners in their next game. UTSA also enters the contest with an unblemished 2-0 record, having defeated UT Rio Grande and Texas State.
The game between UTSA and No. 1 Texas is scheduled to kick off at 8 p.m. ET on September 19. The matchup will be exclusively streamed on SEC Network+, accessible through ESPN+ and the ESPN Unlimited app. Free viewing options are available through a five-day free trial of DIRECTV, which includes the ESPN app as part of select plans like Choice and MySports Genre Pack.
