Texas Longhorns Co-Defensive Coordinator Johnny Nansen Arrested for DWI

Johnny Nansen, the co-defensive coordinator for the Texas Longhorns, was arrested on Wednesday for driving while intoxicated. The incident occurred around 8:55 p.m. when Nansen was involved in a three-car collision on an Austin, Texas roadway.

According to the Austin Police Department, Nansen displayed signs of intoxication at the scene. Officers conducted sobriety tests, which the department stated showed "multiple clues of impairment." Nansen was subsequently arrested for DWI, classified as a Class B misdemeanor.

He was held overnight and released from custody Thursday morning. Nansen did not participate in the team's practice on Thursday, and his availability for the Longhorns' upcoming game against UTSA has not yet been determined.

Texas Head Coach Steve Sarkisian addressed the situation during his media availability on Thursday, describing it as an "unfortunate situation." Sarkisian stated that he is still gathering facts and monitoring the situation, expressing disappointment.

Nansen joined the Texas coaching staff in 2024. He previously worked with Sarkisian at both Washington and USC.
