A Texas man has been arrested and charged with murder after his estranged wife was found dead in his Plano apartment, according to police. The incident occurred Wednesday while the couple's two young children were reportedly inside the residence.
Jake Bigoni, 37, was initially taken into custody on an abuse of corpse charge. Authorities later added a murder charge after discovering the body of Eliana Bigoni. The welfare check was initiated after a friend reported Eliana Bigoni had missed a scheduled breakfast and was unreachable. Police noted that the couple was in the process of divorcing.
According to an arrest warrant, Jake Bigoni's mother contacted police after her son allegedly called her and said, "I have something to tell you. She's dead. We got in a fight and she's dead." Officers responding to the apartment observed a large stain on Jake Bigoni's shirt, which he attributed to cleaning.
Eliana Bigoni's body was found in the trunk of a white Hyundai in the apartment's garage. Investigators reported that she had suffered significant trauma to her head and face. Police stated that the children were not harmed during the incident. Reports indicate Jake Bigoni has a history of violent behavior. He is being held in jail without bond.
