A Texas deputy's routine night shift took a surprising turn when a deer, initially appearing dead on the side of the road, suddenly sprang back to life, causing the deputy to emit a high-pitched scream. The incident occurred around 11 p.m. on August 28, according to Trinity County Sheriff Woody Wallace.

As the deputy approached the motionless animal with a flashlight, the deer abruptly stood up and bolted. The deputy's startled reaction, including a vocal cry of "It's awake!" and a hasty retreat, was captured on video. Following the initial shock, the deputy quickly recovered and laughed off the scare, with Sheriff Wallace noting the deputy's swift composure. The deer then escaped into the woods.

Sheriff Wallace commented on the unpredictability of night shifts, humorously stating that the "suspect" made a "four-legged getaway." The deputy's reaction to the unexpected event gained significant attention online, with the video amassing over 11 million views. While many viewers found the incident highly amusing, some expressed concern about the deer's initial state.

In an update, Sheriff Wallace confirmed that the deer was "only stunned" and recovered after a few minutes. He also lightheartedly added that no deer meat would be served at the Trinity County Jail that night.
