A deputy in East Texas experienced a moment of shock when a deer he presumed dead suddenly regained its senses and jumped to its feet. The startling encounter was captured on the deputy's dashcam and shared by Trinity County Sheriff Woody Wallace.
The video begins with the deputy approaching a doe lying motionless on the side of a road. As the deputy moves closer to inspect the animal, it abruptly stands up. The surprised deputy lets out a scream and retreats to his patrol vehicle, later remarking with a laugh, "Okay, we’re good."
Wallace shared the video on Facebook, humorously noting that the deer, rather than receiving a citation, "made a four-legged getaway and vanished into the East Texas woods." He assured viewers that the doe was unharmed and had "made a full recovery."
The dashcam footage has gained significant attention online, with Wallace reporting that the video has accumulated over 10 million views. The sheriff attributed the incident to the unpredictable nature of night shifts, where "anything can happen."
