Texans Coach DeMeco Ryans Confirms Trade for WR Marvin Harrison

Houston Texans head coach DeMeco Ryans has confirmed the team's acquisition of wide receiver Marvin Harrison from the Arizona Cardinals. The move reunites Harrison with his former Ohio State teammate, quarterback C.J. Stroud.

Ryans made the announcement with a laugh following the Texans' recent victory over the Tennessee Titans. According to an NFL source, the Texans are sending a second and sixth-round pick to the Cardinals in exchange for Harrison and a seventh-round pick. The Texans were among multiple teams that had expressed interest in trading for the receiver.

The addition of Harrison addresses a need for the Texans at the wide receiver position, where they have sought additional playmakers beyond Nico Collins. Harrison, a former first-round draft pick, played with Stroud at Ohio State, forming a potent duo that led to both players being selected in consecutive NFL drafts.

Harrison has played 33 NFL games since being drafted by the Cardinals. The Texans' decision to acquire him suggests a belief in their coaching staff's ability to help him reach his potential.

CJ Stroud warms up

The Texans currently hold a 1-4 record and are positioning themselves as buyers ahead of the NFL trade deadline.
