A Tesla crashed into a New Jersey home on Friday morning, coming to a stop inside the kitchen after the 68-year-old driver experienced a medical episode. The vehicle, a 2026 model, collided with a closed garage door before breaching the residence.
The South Brunswick Township Police Department confirmed the incident occurred around 11 a.m. The driver, who sustained minor injuries, was taken to a local hospital. It remains unclear if the vehicle was operating in self-driving mode at the time of the crash.
Fortunately, no occupants were inside the home when the collision took place. The crash also resulted in a minor gas leak at the property. Nearby homes were temporarily evacuated as code inspectors assessed the structural integrity of the damaged residence to determine when it would be safe for reoccupation.
