Teresa and Gia Giudice Visit White House Amid Pardon Plea for Joe
The 'RHONJ' stars attended an Italian-American heritage event, coinciding with efforts to secure a presidential pardon for Joe Giudice.
“Real Housewives of New Jersey” star Teresa Giudice and her daughter Gia visited the White House on Friday, attending an event to celebrate Italian-American heritage and Columbus Day. The visit occurred as the family continues to advocate for a presidential pardon for Joe Giudice, who was deported to Italy in 2019.
White House Director of Minority Outreach Lynne Patton posted a photo on Instagram depicting Giudice and her daughter outside the Oval Office. Patton stated that the Giudices were at the White House "at the invitation of the President & First Lady in honor of Columbus Day & Italian-American heritage."
Patton remarked on the situation regarding pardons, stating, "I am not in charge of pardons. Nor do I decide who receives them. That is the President’s sole decision based upon recommendations from the White House Pardon Czar, [Alice Johnson], and White House Counsel." However, she added, "I will say this: I believe deeply in second chances."
Teresa Giudice, who gained national attention on the reality show, was married to Joe Giudice for 20 years, and they share four daughters. Joe Giudice served 41 months in prison for a fraud conviction involving obtaining millions in loans and failing to report income. Following his release, he was deported to Italy.
Another daughter, Milania Giudice, has recently spoken about her struggles with mental health. Gia Giudice, the eldest daughter, has previously publicly appealed for a presidential pardon for her father.
Patton concluded her Instagram post by emphasizing the family's needs, writing, "But what I do know is that one of his beautiful daughters desperately needs him now more than ever. And even God supports that."
