Tennis Star's Ex-Girlfriend Denies Cheating Allegations Amidst Awkward On-Court Interview Speculation

Tennis player Matteo Berrettini's ex-girlfriend, Vanessa Bellini, has publicly addressed and vehemently denied rumors suggesting she cheated on the athlete with his fellow Italian tennis player, Lorenzo Musetti. The speculation gained traction after Berrettini provided a notably awkward response when questioned about Musetti during a live TV interview following his victory at the Vienna Open.

During the interview on Tuesday, Berrettini was asked if Musetti's recent title win in Lyon served as inspiration. After a pause and some hesitant laughter, Berrettini stated, "It's okay. I know he worked really hard to come back and I guess he deserved it," before quickly ending the interview. This subdued reaction, coupled with Berrettini's recent unfollowing of Musetti on Instagram, fueled theories of a rift between the two players who were teammates on the 2024 Davis Cup-winning team.

The timing of the unfollow coincided with Berrettini's breakup with Bellini earlier this year. Bellini, a dancer, took to social media to express her frustration with the accusations. In a statement translated from Italian, she asserted, "I tolerate all the bulls*** you say and write and I let it go. But to hear that I would have betrayed Matteo, really. Rinse your mouth before you speak."

Musetti, who was defeated by Arthur Fery in the Vienna Open's Round of 16, has remained silent on the matter. He continues to be active on social media with his girlfriend, Veronica Confalonieri, with whom he has been in a relationship since 2022. The couple shares two sons and was recently pictured together in Tokyo.

Berrettini was notably absent from Italy's Davis Cup squad this year. Captain Filippo Volandri stated that the decision was based solely on player performance, emphasizing the strength of the team's roster which includes Berrettini alongside other key players.
