A 16-year-old girl in Tennessee is facing criminal charges and a lifetime ban from school property after she ran onto the field and tackled a middle school football player during a game. The incident occurred Tuesday night at Franklin County High School in Winchester during a contest between South Middle School and Cornersville Middle School.

Tensions escalated after South Middle School scored a touchdown and an extra point, leading to a brief scuffle among players on the field. Video footage captured the moment the teenage girl sprinted onto the field and charged at a South Middle School player involved in the altercation. She tackled the player, knocking him to the ground, and then pushed him down again as he attempted to stand.

A coach intervened to separate the two. A school resource officer met the girl as she was escorted off the field, and she was later released to her parents. The Franklin County Sheriff’s Office has charged the teenager with assault and disorderly conduct.

School district officials and state sports authorities have taken swift action. The girl has been issued a lifetime trespass ban from all Franklin County Schools properties. Additionally, the Tennessee Secondary School Athletic Association has banned her from attending any Cornersville Middle School athletic events.

This incident follows a separate event in South Dakota where police are investigating a fight that disrupted a high school soccer game. During that match, a player allegedly shoved a rival, kicked him in the back of the head, and then punched him multiple times. The referee and coaches stopped the altercation, and the player involved was shown a red card. The game resumed after a delay. Authorities are reportedly interviewing over 100 witnesses and reviewing extensive footage of the soccer fight.
