A freshman cheerleader at Middle Tennessee State University (MTSU) has been arrested twice in less than a week, first for alleged domestic assault and subsequently for violating an order of protection. The university has dismissed her from the cheer squad.

Kailyn Hasty was initially arrested on a Thursday for allegedly assaulting an individual at an apartment complex in Murfreesboro. Police identified Hasty as the primary aggressor, though details of the assault and the victim's identity were not released. She was booked into jail and later released.

Three days after her initial arrest, Hasty was taken into custody for a second time. She was a passenger in a vehicle stopped by police for a routine traffic violation in Murfreesboro. During the stop, officers discovered the driver was subject to a protective order. Hasty was arrested for violating that order and was subsequently booked and released from the Rutherford County Adult Detention Center.

MTSU confirmed that Hasty was dismissed from the cheer squad following her arrests. A university spokesperson stated that her actions do not reflect the values of the university or its spirit program. The cheer team leader, Brooke Legens, issued a statement emphasizing that violence is not condoned and will not be tolerated, adding that the athletes work hard to represent the university.

Hasty had graduated from Tullahoma High School in Middle Tennessee in the spring. She remains enrolled at MTSU.
