A 13-year-old boy was stabbed in the stomach on Saturday afternoon outside a supermarket in the Bronx's Soundview neighborhood. The incident occurred at approximately 5:23 p.m. near the C-Town store located at 1612 Westchester Avenue. Emergency medical services transported the injured teenager to Jacoby Hospital, where he is reported to be in stable condition.
Police have not made any arrests in connection with the stabbing and are actively searching for the assailant. Evidence of the attack, including blood on the sidewalk, was visible as officers cordoned off the area. The motive for the stabbing remains unclear.
This assault follows another violent incident in the Bronx days earlier. On a preceding afternoon, a New York City Schools employee, 32-year-old Rashaun Shettlewood, was fatally stabbed in the chest, and his 33-year-old friend was wounded in the torso. This attack took place at Davidson and West Tremont Avenues in Morris Heights. Shettlewood was pronounced dead at St. Barnabas Hospital, while his companion was treated and reported in stable condition.
The suspect in that case, 37-year-old Jeffrey Jorge of Brooklyn, was apprehended the following morning after being spotted with a knife. He faces charges including murder, attempted murder, manslaughter, and two counts each of assault and criminal possession of a weapon. Police sources indicated that the earlier incident stemmed from a dispute.
