Teenager Killed in London Crash, Driver Arrested

A 16-year-old girl has died after being hit by a car outside Highgate School in north London on September 24, 2026. Police were called to the scene on North Road, Hornsey, shortly after 8 a.m. The teenager was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the vehicle, a 68-year-old man, was not injured and remained at the location. He has since been arrested on suspicion of causing death by careless driving and taken into custody. The Metropolitan Police stated that the girl's family has been informed and is being supported by specially trained officers.

A spokesperson for the London Ambulance Service confirmed they were called at 8:11 a.m. to reports of a road traffic collision. Emergency services, including an ambulance crew, paramedics, an incident response officer, a motorcycle responder, an advanced paramedic, and London's Air Ambulance, were dispatched to the scene. Despite their efforts, the teenager was pronounced deceased.

The area was cordoned off, and the closure remained in place throughout the afternoon. Police are urging anyone with information to contact them by calling 101 and quoting reference CAD1525/24Sept.
