Teenager Found Guilty of Attempted Murder in School Stabbing
A masked 16-year-old has been convicted of attempting to murder a schoolgirl after a trial at King's Lynn Crown Court.
A masked teenager has been found guilty of attempted murder after stabbing a 15-year-old schoolgirl at Thorpe St Andrew School near Norwich. The 16-year-old defendant, whose identity is protected for legal reasons, brought a knife to school, was dressed in black, and wore a face mask. The trial heard that the attacker had written notes expressing hatred towards women.
Armed police responded to the incident on March 11, which led to the school being placed in lockdown. The victim was taken to the hospital with what was described as a minor injury. CCTV footage captured the moment of the stabbing, after which the attacker fled the scene, pursued by a teacher.
During the two-week trial, the prosecution argued that the teenager went to the school with the intent to kill. Jurors reached a majority verdict after deliberating for nearly four hours. The defendant is scheduled to be sentenced on December 18.
